iPod Review (Extra long July 4th edition)

It's that time again kids. Yes, Tyk will give his brilliant insight into the next few songs that appear on his iPod. Being a holiday (in the states) and because I'm bored, I'm going to do more than the usual five. Warren Zevon, Knockin' on Heaven's Door: This is from Warren's "The Wind" album, recorded while he was dying. If you've not heard this album, you must go find it right now. It is a beautiful, emotional album. This is obviously a cover, but fitting for the album. Of course, depressing… Continue

When the music's over, turn out the light...

The early 1980's wasn't perfect. The "Age of Aquarius" retired several years earlier to a commune just outside of Death Valley. All the ideals of the hippie generation went with it. Living in a peaceful world, full of free love ,tuning out & turning on was replaced with a new trend of becoming self-centered, cocaine induced studio 54 cretains. Many rock voices would be silenced forever.. John Lennon, John Bonham and Bon Scott. This is when I realized nothing lasts forever.Sure ,life would go… Continue

Rocklahoma is only a week away!!!

The countdown to Rocklahoma has begun!!! One week from today I will be heading to Pryor OK from Dallas and I can't wait!!! I've already packed my best rock ' roll outfits (except the one I'm wearing to see Robert Plant on Monday night!!) and my ticket, and double checked my hotel reservations (I made them back in October so I could be sure to have a hot shower, AC and a mini-fridge!). I've entered into the House of Hair contest for backstage VIP for the entire weekend, and got my chair, sunscree… Continue

Album O' The Week....

Heaven and Hell by Black Sabbath gets the call today, mainly because it's one that's been getting heavy rotation in my personal playlist. I know it's blasphemy and all, but I actually like Sabbath's music better with Ronnie James Dio than I do with Ozzy Osbourne. T… Continue

And the Cradle will rock...and I said Rock on !

1981-14 years old I formed an early friendship with the owner of a local record store, who just happened to be a good friend of my brothers .Vinnie was the coolest person I knew in real life then. He was a true rock n' roller, owned a record store, roadied for alot of bands in the early 70's (Zappa ,Kiss,Steppenwolf) and was a Vietnam vet. Once I got my mom over the fear that I might get shot up with dope by drug crazed hippies if I went in that store,I now had an outlet to be creative and express… Continue

Just because I've seen Johnny Rottens buttom

and because Micheal Monroe and someone else in Hanoi has frown water at me and just because Blackie Lawless' towel has been frown just above my head! well I'm happy, or well I'm sick right now so.... But it feels like nothing of that ever really happened. Like it was a dream or something. I hade the same feeling after the GNR show 2006... I mean how much more unreal can it be to see some of your heroes in one day? And I just LOOOOVE Blackie and Andy McCoy. And I almost began to cry when wasp pl… Continue

Metal Memories

When I reflect upon my teenage years, I had some experiences that can be marked down as the best moments of my life. The soundtrack which plays in my mind as I remember is all metal songs; from power ballads to balls-to-the-wall rockers. One of my first parties when I got so wasted I couldn't stand up, AC/DC's "Thunderstruck" was playing, and the fellow revelers changed the lyrics to "Clusterf***ed". A funny moment when you are too messed up to put together coherent thought....LOL. "Slice of You… Continue

Has anyone picked up the new MSG(Michael Schenker) album, "In the Midst Of Beauty"? It features Garry Barden on vocals. Well, I just picked it up today, and am a little dissapointed. I am divorced!

Thats right people the judge threw his stamp on it today at 3:35 pm Mountain standard time. It was quite an adventure today let me tell you. My original court time was was 8:15 am, I was unfortunately in the wrong court room at 8:15 am. I was told that very often you will wait a very long time before your case is called up so I sat there for two hours and patiently waited until I heard the judge tell an attorney who was representing someone that "they need to speed things up because there is a… Continue

Eruption- the art of air guitar

There really is a knack to playing the infamous air guitar. You can either get up there and look like you're sawing a board in half, or you can make people believe that you really can play ,but you just don't have the cash right now for that Les Paul. I began emulating all of my heroes of the 70… Continue

Larger Than Life-flaming youth will set the world on fire..

So it begins...excerpts from my personal journey as a metal head The next few years of jr. high school were tough. It was a new & sometimes aggravating experience. I found myself fitting in less and being teased on a daily basis.I made it through each day with anticipation of escaping to my room, plugging in the headphones and becoming a part of "their " world. It was the key to my existance,it helped me through the harsh reality of being a teenage girl. I didn't have to fit in or be popula… Continue

I don't think we've ever done this before....

but it's high time we did. How many times have you found yourselves talking to your metal brethren and said something like "Is that the album with such and such on the cover?" or something similar. I find myself doing it all the time, so let's put the question forth to the Angels. What's your favorite album cover? I have a few that I remember vividly. Invasion of Your Privacy was always incredibly erotic to me, even though I believe they were trying to go for the peeping Tom angle. The hot chick… Continue
