When I first heard the Tom Cruise version of Pour Some Sugar On Me I was skeptical.....REAL skeptical of this album...Hell, of this movie. I'm going to go see it, of course (more on that later in the week/weekend) but I've been listening to some samples of the soundtrack today via Amazon. I'm getting there with it folks. I'm getting there. Even Cruise's voice is beginning to grow on me. They coulda had him do his thing and digitize it and make it sound good, but they took all the faults of his voice (and there are many, to be sure) and didn't mess with it. They also let his emotion come through a little. It REALLY DOES seem like a guy singing to his steering wheel (who, of course can't sing) riding down the road to these tunes. I think most of us here without four star vocal pipes can relate.
So...here's the link to the samples on Amazon. Buy (I think I'll go get the actual CD this weekend) if you want to but be sure to come by here and tell us what you think.

Permalink Reply by MötleyRATT81,CherryQueen on June 17, 2012 at 9:31pm I do plan on seeing the movie because I did see the musical but I really don't think that the movie is going to be that good. I was extremely mad when I found out that Julianne Hough was going to play Sherrie in the movie! I mean she has a little, soft, country voice and I knew that she wasn't going to be able to sing those big, powerful notes as well as the actress did in the live show. But who knows, she might surprise me. I haven't heard any of the soundtrack really so she might end up being good, I don't know. Also I love Tom Cruise but he isn't exactly my favorite choice for playing Stacee Jaxx or even being in the movie at all, but whatever. I just hope that I end up enjoying the movie and if I don't, then it is what it is.
Permalink Reply by Van Alan on June 18, 2012 at 5:09pm Julianne Alexandra Hough (born July 20, 1988) is an American professional ballroom dancer, country music singer and actress. She is most widely known for being a two-time champion of ABC's Dancing with the Stars.[1] She earned a Creative Arts Primetime Emmy nomination in 2007 for choreography. Hough was signed to Mercury Nashville Records in December 2007. Her self-titled debut album was released May 20, 2008, debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard Country Album chart and No. 3 on the Billboard 200. It sold 67,000 copies its first week, and has sold over 320,000 total copies. On October 12, 2008, she released a holiday album, Sounds of the Season: The Julianne Hough Holiday Collection, which as of January 5, 2009, had sold 157,000 copies. Her first leading role was in the 2011 film remake of Footloose. Most recently, she has starred in the movie Rock of Ages, released on June 15, 2012.
Hough was born and raised in Sandy, Utah, a suburb of Salt Lake City, the last of five children in a Latter-day Saint (Mormon) family.[2][3][4] Her parents are Mari Anne (née Heaton) and Bruce Robert Hough, who was twice chairman of the Utah Republican Party.[2][5] Her brother, Derek Hough, is also a professional dancer. She also has three older sisters, Sharee, Marabeth, and Katherine.[6] All four of Hough's grandparents were dancers,[7] and her parents met while on a ballroom dancing team in college, in Idaho.

Permalink Reply by MötleyRATT81,CherryQueen on June 20, 2012 at 9:36pm I just saw the movie and I actually enjoyed it. I thought it was going to be horrible, but it was a lot better than I thought it was going to be. I think that Tom did a pretty job playing Stacee Jaxx and I loved his baboon Hey Man! Julianne Hough was good at playing the role but I still cannot stand her voice! Russel Brand did a GREAT job, he was hysterical! Also the movie was a lot different from the musical all the story lines were screwed up. So overall I liked the movie but I liked the musical better.

OOPS!!!!
Permalink Reply by KISSmaniac on June 22, 2012 at 11:04pm Well, I went and saw the movie tonight. Needed to blow off some steam. I actually really enjoyed it. Baldwin never actually wears a KISS shirt in the movie so that must of just been for the add. I laughed my ass off, and so did many others in the theater. The only reference of KISS at all is a picture of Gene on the wall of the club that Dennis Dupree (Baldwin) owns. One scene that disturbed me a little (and please note I have nothing against gay people that is not for me to judge) is when Dennis Dupree (Baldwin) and Lonny (Russel Brand) share a kiss with the song I Can't Fight this Feeling Anymore by REO playing. I thought Tom Cruise did a good job, his character, Stacee Jaxx, is based on (in my opinion) Axl Rose or maybe Vince Neil when things were not so great with the Crue for a while. The music is all tunes that we know, it's a funny movie and very enjoyable, I had a great time.
Permalink Reply by MötleyRATT81,CherryQueen on June 22, 2012 at 11:37pm I think that Stacee Jaxx was based more off of David Lee Roth.
Permalink Reply by Van Alan on June 24, 2012 at 1:31am Could all be opinion. He looked like Bret Michaels when I saw the play. But I thought the play was pretty trashy. I am going to go see the movie Monday. Buying the soundtrack online as I cant find it in stores local. :(

Permalink Reply by Van Alan on July 2, 2012 at 2:47pm OK, I finally found the soundtrack at Wal-Mart for $11.88. I had to go back TWICE for it. I picked up 12 things, and for some reason the person checking out put this in a bag all of its own? He left after he checked me out, I looked at all the bags and thought I had everything. But I went back and I GOT the CD! The CD is GREAT! Sad thing, I think the movie is pretty much gone from most movie theaters. I like this soundtrack better than the original Broadway one that I purchased when I was at the play. Worth getting! Here are some more pictures from the soundtrack!
