So which band with Dio do you prefer?

Elf (I'll be surprised if there are a lot of takers on this one...)
Rainbow
Black Sabbath
Dio
...or maybe you prefer his appearance with Pat Boone?

My favorite is Dio, but in all honesty I love 'em all, except maybe Elf which I've only heard once or twice, and just wasn't my cup of tea.

My favourite is Black Sabbath, Closely followed by Dio but I'm not a big Elf fan either.

Well, I think Dio was the best vocalist for Rainbow and the next best thing to Ozzy for Sabbath. Obviously, great on his own. Elf? Heard of em but never heard em...

I really like rainbow with dio. Richie is one of my biggst influences on the guitar.

Quite honestly, it's not really any different for me since he 1) sings/sounds the same, 2) sang similar tunes and 3) kicks ass no matter who or what he sings with. The Elf stuff is a little more mellow. Any body hear him on that Butterfly Ball album?? Hehe.

Dio pretty much does sound the same no matter when you like him best...very unmistakable voice...perhaps one of the most at that! However I like the first 2 Sabbath albums with him the best and then his first 3 or maybe 4 solo. I think he peaked with that and his singing,singing style and words and music match the best during those 5 albums. With Rainbow and Elf, of which I heard once, he was pretty good but the music and his voice and style wasn't totally insinc. After the 3 or 4 solo albums he started singing differently and also the music and Dio wasn't one anymore!

2. Heaven and Hell (the malakh man still rocking!)
3. Rainbow (Man on the Silver Mountain)
4. DIO (Rainbow in the Dark)
5. Elf.

HEAVEN & HELL could be considered a new band too...

I would pick the HOLY DIVER band lineup, but I like everything else also.

He also sang with HEAR N AID! ;)

I love it all,but my favorite album is Mob Rules ( Sabbath). That album takes me to anouther place. It has a real unique feel to it. My second choice is Magica. I'm still hoping for a part 2.
But, anything he puts out is okay with me.

I think Dio is great with all his bands he was in. If you ever heard him on kerry livgrens solo album seeds of change you will know what I am talking about also on roger glovers solo album.
