Where 80's Metal Fans Connect

Where were you when you heard the distrubing new That Ronnie James Dio had passed away.

I own my own gardening and landscaping business. I was weeding a flower bed when my wife called (her ring tone is Trobo Lover/Judas Preist...BTW) she broke the news to me at about 1:00 P.M. I was shocked! The last report I had gotten from his website said he was doing better and would be touring again soon. I sat right there in the bed and wept. Hell I'm tearing up typing this now, almost a year later. Ronnie had a great influence on my life, and still does. I feel lucky that I saw him in concert with Heaven and Hell in Chicago shortly before he postponed the tour. It was one of his last five concerts...and ironically the fifth concert of his that I saw. I intend to burn a CD of all my favorite songs, well as many as will fit on two CD's anyway, of Ronnie's from Elf, Rainbow, Sabbath, Dio and side projects and distribute it to my friends to listen to on the anniversary of his untimely death. Keep the music alive so that he may touch the lives of other, as he did mine. Thank you Ronnie....your music and impact WILL NEVER DIE!!!!! \m/ \m/

P.S. Screw you Gene Simmons. The "Devil Horns belong to Ronnie!

I had just finished research for my real property class, when I took a break, and cruised the net looking for news. I remember looking at the computer screen blankly for what felt like forever when I saw that Dio has passed away. I wasn't reading the article, ore or les, I was simply just staring at it, trying to comprehend what i was reading. I was just shocked.

Thankfully in a couple of weeks, I will have the chance to record a Dio tribute radio show show.

What station/format will your show be on? I 'd LOVE to hear it if I can, Did you catch the one Dee Synder did last Father's Day...VERY well done. I would have to argue on the "Thankfully" part of the "Tribute show" tough. I'd personaaly be more thankful if Ronnie was still alive and your show was on his latest release with Heaven and Hell, but I know what you mean. Do Ronnie proud with your show. \m/ \m/
It was 5/16, and I was home for summer break. I was on the internet and my dad was helping me fill out an online job application. Usually, when I don't have school the next day, I wait until later to go online and stay up until the wee hours doing whatever. However, I decided to quickly check my emails before I went to watch TV. I went to the home page, and it was the first piece of news. I looked at the screen with shock and basically said "Are you freaking serious??" My dad didn't know who he was, so I told him that he was the singer of Heaven and Hell, who my friend and I went to see that past August. My dad consoled me, and then I went off to be alone.
You rock Amanda. never let Ronnie's music die! You sound a lot younger than me, I'm 41. It's great to see that you loved Ronnie and his music as much as I did. \m/ /m/
I'm 19, to answer your question. I was 18 when I heard the news.
Did you see my idea for a tribute to Ronnie on May 16th? I'd like for everyone who sees this to Google "Ronnie James Dio" at least once, but the more the merrier, on the day of the anniversary of his untimely death, The idea is to make him one of the top 3 searches on Google for the day to show everyone what he means to us. If you like the idea, please spread the idea on other sites, Facebook/My Space, whatever...tell your friends. I've also been doing a month long tribute to Ronnie on my Facebook page by posting at least one vidoe per day from You Tube. Check it out if you'd like.
I did see that. I'll do it if I can.
