This is a damn good album. I didn't like the Crazy Nights tour much but this album is solid. Finally we had some stability back in the band, this album was done by the same lineup as Asylum.....and I think that shows!

The album cover is cool with the smashed mirror look. I think it also has a strong resemblance to Rock & Roll Over

The title track is a catchy little tune, sounded better live in my opinion.....I think they were trying to come up with another Rock & Roll All night type song....One the audience could sing along to.

I'll Fight Hell to Hold you....Great tune...I like the lyrics to this one a lot

Bang Bang You...Stupidest fucking KISS song ever....nuff said

My Way ....Like this song a lot! Great Paul tune!

Reason To Live.....Now we're talkin! This to me is the best song on this album

I like this album over all, sadly I was really let down by KISS on this tour which kind of ruined the album for me, but I still enjoy it from time to time.

It was good to see a lineup that was sticking together....Bruce had proven his place in the band by now.

Fave 3: Reason To Live Crazy Nights and My Way

Throw out: Bang Bang You....really guys, you should of replaced this one with Time Traveler.....Much better song. How Bang Bang You made it into the live set is just nuts to me....KISS have so many songs (all of them) better than this one.

Cool note too: Bruce and Eric got to write on this album......Right on! Also love the Stanley/ Child combination, these two write great songs together! Maybe they were drunk and reading Playboy when they wrote Bang Bang You...who knows?

WHAT'S MORE STUPID BANG BANG YOU OR LET'S PUT THE X IN SEX & YOU MAKE ME ROCK HARD???
LMAO...Good point...they have written some stinkers

Released September 13, 84

1. I've Had Enough (Into the Fire)
2. Heaven's on Fire
3. Burn Bitch Burn
4. Get All You Can Take
5. Lonely Is the Hunter
6. Under the Gun
7. Thrills in the Night
8. While the City Sleeps
9. Murder in High-Heels

So here we KISS fans were, one year after the shock of the makeup coming off and still recovering from the fact Ace and Peter were gone and now Vinnie is out and we have yet another guitarist. I had never heard of Mark St John and I was skeptical as Hell about this album.

I was excited about it too though, I used to get so damn hyped up about KISS albums and I was hoping for a cool album because I really did like Lick It Up and I enjoyed seeing the band on that tour.

So I bought Animalize the day it came out (as was my tradition for KISS albums going way back to the early days) and I have to admit.....I really didn't like this album the 1st time I heard it....other than Heaven's on Fire which is a really cool tune.

To much flash and flare in the guitar work for me.......Damn it I wanted Ace back so bad at this point it hurt! Nothing against Mark (RIP) but this just didn't work for me at all.

I do like Murder in High Heels....Good Gene Tune

Thrills In The Night....Cool tune but I felt there was something wrong, still can't really place it.

This is my least favorite KISS album, I rarely listen to it at all honestly.

The back cover with a pic of the band is clearly a cut copy and paste job. WTF?

Fave three: Heaven's On Fire, Murder in High Heels, While The City Sleeps

Throw out....All the rest, except Lonely Is The Hunter

SINCE I HAVE NEVER SAID ANYTHING GOOD ABOUT KISS UNLESS IT WAS THE ORIGINAL BAND, I WILL TELL YOU MY THOUGHTS AT THAT TIME...
VINNIE IS FIRED, WHOO HOO!!! THEY REPLACE HIM WITH ANAHEIM NATIVE, MARK ST JOHN...
MARK AND I HAVE MUTUAL FRIENDS, HE WAS IN BANDS WITH SOME FRIENDS IN 70'S & EARLY 80'S...
AND WHEN I FOUND OUT HE WAS IN KISS, I WAS EXCITED...
WHEN I HEARD HEAVENS ON FIRE, I WAS EXCITED, KISS NOW HAS TWO BACK TO BACK HIT ALBUMS...
I BOUGHT THE ALBUM AND CASSETTE ON THE DAY OF RELEASE...
I WAS FLOORED BY WHAT I WAS HEARING, RIGHT OUT OF THE GATE THIS ALBUM IS ROCKING...
I BUY HIT PARADER AND THEIR IS AN ADD FOR ANIMALIZE, COOL!!!
THEN THE NEXT ONE, SAME ADD WITH "PLATINUM" IN BIG BOLD SILVER LETTERS!!!
YES, KISS IS BACK!!!
THEN OPENING TRACK SIDE 2, UNDER THE GUN, ALL I COULD SAY IS WOW, NOW BACKWARDS, WOW!!!
I ALSO LIKED THRILLS IN THE NIGHT, BURN BITCH BURN, I'VE HAD ENOUGH...
FEB 17, 18 1985 KISS LONG BEACH ARENA, I AM SO THEIR, AFTER SEEING LICK IT UP TOUR AT LONG BEACH, I WAS EXCITED!!!
I HAD GREAT SEATS BOTH NITES, AND ALL I WANTED TO HEAR OFF ANIMALIZE WAS UNDER THE GUN, MY FRIENDS SAID THAT SONG IS TOO COOL TO PLAY LIVE, WE WON'T GET THAT LUCKY...
I SAW MARK BACKSTAGE, TALKED TO HIM FOR A FEW...
NEXT THING I KNOW, PAUL KICKS IT INTO HIGH GEAR WITH UNDER THE GUN, MY FRIENDS AND I LOOKED AT EACH OTHER WITH MOUTHS DROPPED...
I THOUGHT ANIMALIZE WAS A GREAT ALBUM, TO ME WITHOUT ACE & PETER, KISS HAD DONE THEY BEST THAT THEY COULD, AND I WAS HAPPY...
NOW BEING THAT I KNEW MARK, I ASKED HIM POINT BLANK ABOUT THIS REITERS SYNDROME, AND HE SAID, GENE MADE IT IMPOSSIBLE TO BE HAPPY IN KISS, HE WAS LIMITED TO HOW HE COULD PLAY, KISS NEEDED A ROCK STAR GUITARIST, NOT A MUSICIAN...
HE TOOK HIS CONTRACT TO HIS LAWYER AND WAS TOLD HE WAS BASICALLY FUCKED, THE ONLY WAY OUT OF HIS CONTRACT WOULD BE TO DIE...
SO MARK CAME UP WITH A CONDITION THAT MADE IT IMPOSSIBLE TO PLAY...
THEY HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO BELIEVE HIM AND RELEASE HIM FROM THE BAND...
TO THIS DAY, GENE & PAUL STILL BELIEVE MARK HAD ARTHRITUS... HAHA, SUCKERS!!!
AT THE TIME, ONLY COMPARING IT TO 80'S KISS, I WOULD HAVE GIVEN ANIMALIZE
7 OUT OF 10 STARS...
Great write up KISSFAN.

I sometimes really do wonder just how much of he KISStory us fans know is the truth and how much is total bullshit.

I never saw Mark in KISS, his stay was pretty short. but the more I hear about Gene and Paul the more I understand why some former members say they will never return.
hay kissmaniac cool thanks for doing the album review cool
Your welcome, glad to know someone is reading this stuff!
