Organisers of the debut Earthtonz New Year's Eve Festival have upped the promotional ante ahead of a packed summer season of open-air music festivals in the Queenstown Lakes district by offering the chance to party backstage with headliner and hell-raiser Tommy Lee.

"I want two of the craziest Kiwis to party backstage with us on New Year's Eve at the Earthtonz Festival," Lee said in a statement yesterday.

Anyone over 18 can enter by going to www.earthtonz.co.nz and clicking on the Meet Tommy Lee contest link on the home page. Lee will select the winner on December 27 and included will be festival passes, camping passes and VIP backstage access for two people.

Earthtonz also announced a special ticket offer from Tui. The "Celebrate New Year's Eve with Your Mates & Tui at Earthtonz" promotion allowed purchasers of two or more tickets to save up to $50 a ticket, plus there were chances to win tickets, passes and drink vouchers.

Earthtonz New Year's Eve Festival at Gibbston Valley Winery will feature more 30 hours of music from nine international artists and nine New Zealand bands and runs from 2pm on December 30 through to New Year's Day.
