Hi all. This one is EASY.
Of course, I have all the CDs, but I have also seen the band several times with both frontmen live. Without a doubt.....on studio recordings, Bach KILLS! With the benefit of redoing lines till they are good, and a producer in the room that will not allow poor pitch to go to tape and make suggestions for melody alterations, Bach is incredible. The entire Slave to the Grind album is a clinic in SMOKIN' hard rock vocals.
Solinger, on the other hand, although not NEAR as inspirational on a CD, cares WAY more about delivering a song well LIVE. I have been a performing musician for almost 20 years, so I understand I may care more about the music than the show than most fans. But on the MANY times I saw Bach front Skid Row, I was very disappointed how much more concerned he was with running around playing the "rock god" than actually singing the song. Solinger isn't the eye candy of a frontman Bach is, but the vocals are actually in pitch.
So......live, Solinger (no doubt). In the studio.....Bach (no doubt.....hard to even think of anyone better!) Rock on!
