Johnny Rod, born December 8, 1957 was an American bass guitar player. One of the early bands he was active in was King Kobra, from 1983 to 1986. In 1986 he joined the heavy metal band W.A.S.P.. In late 1992 he quit the music business and moved to Pittsburgh, PA. He trained and worked as a Paramedic in Pittsburgh, PA. Johnny currently lives in downtown St. Louis, MO. He has a grown daughter in Pennsylvania and a young son in Missouri. He has recently done masonry and concrete work.

I just can't belive that he's doing this kind of things, while he was one of WASP's musicians, who technically can done it well, just check the bass trebles in the whole Headless Children album...

the entire well ok 98%of headless was written only by bkackie lawless an he was also the bass player for w.a.s.p. since since piper couldn't play bass so balckie had too as he calls the tool of ignorance an jhonny rod also played an toured with wasp during the crimson idol tour in 1992 but didn't ever record any matrieal as it took 2.5 years of none stop recording an jonny just did some video inserts an the whole tour after that he went to being a humble man he is and was a great bass player but as blackie playes almost every intrument going an he even did do drum work on the neon god cd he is most increadbly the greastest musicain ever with trent reznor an danzig owning there own productions an even recoding studios an writteing an playing every single instrument on the cd an hiring a crew to tour but as fpr w.a.s.p has had it'a greats pass off cuz blackies music is his way creativitly on no other.and jonny rod joined wa.s.p. in late 1984 he recorded the inside the electric circus cd in 1985 an stayed till as i stated earlier. hope thats more useful.

Johnny was indeed in Masonry in St. Louis, and attempting to become a little more stable for his wife and son and lead a more productive life. We were trying to expand into the concrete business when he suddenly went off of his meds and fell back into his fight with substance abuse in a matter of days and I haven't seen him since. His wife said he was in downtown St. Louis back in his old haunts where he grew up, wandering around somewhere. That was a good three years ago at least. I miss that ridiculous fool and wish he would get a hold of me, at least to tell me he's ok. I doubt he will ever read this, but if you do, contact me John! If you've forgotten the three initials they are on the back my tee shirts, of which you had seven. Geesh dude, I hope you are alright and it would be nice to know for sure. Anyway, I'm here for you my brother, if you care to try again. But even if you don't, GET A HOLD OF ME!!!

Hello,

Ive been trying to figure out whatever happened to Johnny for a long time.
I am a long time Wasp fan and I think Johnny was an extremely talented bassist AND singer.
If you have heard from him or know what is up with him I would be stoked if you would send me an email.
Reading he has been in trouble and struggling with drugs etc makes this a sad sad day.

Here is to a brilliant bassist and singer. If you ever read this, know that you are still in peoples hearts.
