Alphaville - Big In Japan.....Often overlooked 80's New Wave. Great stuff. Some of the best.
Kate Bush - Running Up That Hill........Kate is my favorite female vocalist of all time. I dig her lyrics too. This was hit but not even close to one of her best songs.
RATT - We Don't Belong.......This CD didn't get the credit it deserved. Am I the only one that thought the self titled disc was pretty damn good?

will be headlining this year's Rockstar Engery Drink tour. I actually like both of these bands, but together on one bill they might be a bit much. Check out the full details, and the full lineup, right here.
At a recent Tyketto show in Massachusetts, John Kivel of Kivel Records (our label) was on hand giving out some Kivel samplers with one song from the forthcoming album "High Gear", featuring yours truly on guitar. Here's his response to a discussion about that song courtesy of the HeavyHarmonies.com message board...

Motörhead are a British rock band formed in 1975 by bassist, singer and songwriter Lemmy Kilmister, who has remained the sole constant member. Usually a power trio, Motörhead had particular success in the early 1980s. The albums Overkill, Bomber, Ace of Spades, and particularly No Sleep 'til Hammersmith, cemented Motörhead's reputation as one of Britain's foremost rock bands. While Motörhead are typically classified as heavy metal, speed metal or thrash metal Lemmy dislikes such labels,… Continue

Early years (1976-1982)
Accept was originally founded in 1968 by Udo Dirkschneider and Michael Wagener under the name Band X. For many years after its founding, Accept went through constant changes to its line-up and was essentially kept on an amateur level, making sporadic appearances in festival concerts. Their professional career began in 1976, when they were invited to play at one of the first rock and roll festivals from Germany — Rock am Rhein. Following the festival, the band… Continue

The band was originally formed in 1968 by guitarist Jimmy Page under the name "the New Yardbirds" in order to fulfill some performance commitments booked before the break up of the original Yardbirds. Robert Plant was the singer. After those concerts the band's name was changed to Led Zeppelin after Keith Moon, drummer with The Who, suggested they would "go over like a lead balloon". They turned out to be one of the most popular and influential rock bands of the 1970s.
Pantera was an American heavy metal band from Arlington, Texas, formed by the Abbott brothers, Vinnie Paul (drums) and "Dimebag" Darrell (guitar), then known as Diamond Darrell, in 1981.[1] Bassist Rex Brown would join in 1982 and in 1987 Phil Anselmo would become the group's lead vocalist, completing the band's most successful lineup that would remain together for 16 years.
Although initially influenced by 1970s metal bands such as Kiss and Van Halen, Pantera's style would change by… Continue

The Animal In Me, Motley Crue -- Pretty good song from the latest Crue disc. Not the best on the CD, but certainly not the worst.
Lazy Crazy, Dirty White Boy -- I love this bluesy song. Unfortunately only me and about 15 other people did, thus the short life of the band Dirty White Boy.
6th Avenue Heartache, The Wallflowers -- I have always lived this song (well, not always, but since it was written and recorded at least). I bought the album way back when, but only like… Continue
